David K Eberhardt - Photographer
FAA Pilot Ratings - ATP, MEI, UAS
The photographer is David Eberhardt. David has several years of experience using cameras such as the Sony A6400 and Panasonic GX85 with high quality lenses. The Sony A6400 shoots outstanding 4K video and beautiful pictures. We utilize a variety of wireless microphones and portable lighting when needed.
David has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Technology (a.k.a Computer Science) and worked for IBM doing web development for such clients as LL Bean and internal IBM websites.
We can design and implement websites for you using established platforms including Wix and Squarespace. We can teach you how to update these websites as well because they are very user friendly for inexperienced owners.
As an FAA Licensed, Phantom 4 drone pilot, David capitalizes on more than 30 years of experience as an FAA Licensed Pilot and has over 1,800 hours of total flying time. David has been flying the Phantom 4 drones since 2017. He is an expert on the FAA rules for legal and safe operations of drone aircraft under FAA Part 107, which is the basis for all commercial applications of drone aircraft.
He holds the following FAA Licenses:
ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) ,
MEI (Multi Engine Instructor), and
UAS Remote Pilot license (Part 107).
Operations and Safety Philosophy
Flying and operating a Phantom 4 (a.k.a. 'drone') to take pictures and videos for commercial purposes requires an FAA Part 107 license. To pass the test for this license requires extensive knowledge very similar to pilots who fly airplanes. Having experience as a licensed airplane pilot demonstrates mastery of the subject matter.
My experience as an Air Force Pilot and civilian pilot gives me an advantage when it comes to knowing the rules and operating safely. We use a very disciplined set of written procedures to safely execute all photo and video assignments. Our knowledge and experience in flight operations coupled with flight insurance thru Global Aerospace Inc., helps ensure our clients get what they need with the absolute minimum exposure to risk.

Photo and video editing is accomplished using DaVinci Resolve and the Adobe Creative Cloud professional software suite.
Photos and video are delivered electronically or on a choice of media. We work with our clients to ensure the final products meet their high expectations.
UAS Pilot David Eberhardt is an FAA Part 107 Licensed Pilot. A Part 107 license is required in order to perform commercial aerial photography and videography services for clients. In addition, David has written FAA authorization to operate within 5 miles of the Groton/New London Airport. Without FAA written authorization, drones are not allowed to operate in controlled airspace, such as the Groton/New London Airport airspace area for the purpose of commercial drone air operations.
We activate Global Aerospace Inc flight liability insurance for every project via the mobile Verify App. Coverage amounts vary between $1 million dollars to $5 million dollars depending on the project and customer needs.
We would be happy to meet with you (or speak with you by phone) for a free, 1 hour (or less) consultation to discuss your project needs and our procedures for executing your project. During our consultation we can also plan the photo or video shoot and provide an estimate for the project investment. For additional information call David at 860-514-2029 or visit our Contact page.
We charge a competitive price for our services but we don't skimp on quality, safety and compliance with FAA rules. We can't give you an exact price quote until we discuss exactly what you need. Once we have discussed your project we'll provide an exact price quote.
Professional drone photographers invest a great amount of effort in studying and developing their talents and abilities. I encourage you to read my blog post "Questions to ask your drone photographer".

Our BEST PRACTICES FOR UAS PRIVACY, TRANSPARENCY, AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Below is a list of voluntary guidelines for “neighborly” drone use. It provides guidance for our UAS (a.k.a. drones) operations to balance our rights as drone users and other people’s rights to privacy. These guidelines are the result of a multi-stakeholder engagement process established by President Obama. The objective of the process was to develop and communicate best practices, accountability, and transparency issues regarding commercial and private UAS use in the National Airspace System (NAS).
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) initiated the process, which included stakeholders from industry, civil society, academia, and other interested U.S. government agencies. The multi-stakeholder group released its recommended voluntary best practices in May 18, 2016. For more details on the best practices, please visit
Here is what CT Aerial Image Studios does, to the maximum extent possible:
We tell other people we'll be taking pictures or video of them before we fly.
If we think someone has a reasonable expectation of privacy, we don’t violate that privacy by taking pictures, video, or otherwise gathering sensitive data.
We don’t fly over other people’s private property without permission, if we can easily avoid doing so.
We don’t gather personal data for no reason, and don’t keep it for longer than we think we have to.
If we keep sensitive data about other people, we secure it against loss or theft.
If someone asks us to delete personal data about him or her that we’ve gathered, we do so, unless we have a good reason not to.
If anyone raises privacy, security, or safety concerns with us, we listen to what they have to say, as long as they’re polite and reasonable about it.
We never harass people with our drone(s).
We will update our BEST PRACTICES FOR UAS PRIVACY, TRANSPARENCY, AND ACCOUNTABILITY as any new guidance or regulations are published by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
